Alex Lucero might have grown up in “The Cowboy Capitol of The World”, but don’t let that fool you.
Despite being brought up in a very “country” esque environment in small town Oakdale, Ca, Alex actually grew up listening almost exclusively to the soulful music of the 60’s & 70’s. Artists such as, Al Green, Marvin Gaye, Van Morrison and Stevie Wonder have played a huge part of his musical influences and overall feel. Alex’s original compositions have a very wide variety of genres but bridge the gap somewhere between Soul, R&B, Jazz and has even been described by people in the industry as “Soul Americana”. Not only has he written all of his own music but Alex has also mixed, mastered and produced his last two albums and is in the process of his next two projects.
When Original Songs Come To Life
Alex has released two professional music videos to go along with his original compositions, “My Love” and “Shade”. The first song, “My Love” was written for his now Fiance, Justina Keith in a time when she was dealing with chronic pain from a back injury which led to two intense surgeries. The line in the chorus “Nothing’s gonna bring you down” was written quite literally to keep her spirits high in a time of pain and stress. Both videos were captured and produced by Alex’s good friend and music entrepreneur, Andrew Vicente “Amplified”. He was really able to capture the emotion and feeling and bring it to the video. Both Videos combined at over 30K views on YouTube and are currently planning for another video release in conjunction with his new album release.
Being a Full Time Musician in 2020 to Present
Between band shows and solo performances, Alex played a total of 322 gigs in 2019 alone giving him the local recognition of “The Hardest Working Man in Show Business”. In early 2020, Alex and band were off to a great start with leads on Music Labels and the possibility of going on tour as a supporting act. Alex was on a self promoted mini tour through Ireland when talks of “COVID-19” hit spreading rapidly through Europe. He just barley made it home late February playing only a hand full of shows before the big shutdown March 15 2020. Virtually all gigs and venues closed but Alex wasn’t about top let that stop him. As of march 23rd Alex and Jake (drummer) began doing live stream shows every Monday, Wednesday and Friday not only keeping in practice but reaching out and keeping relevant to their existing fanbase and more. As a result of the consistent live stream shows giving people a bit of “normalcy” as the Stay At Home Oder was in effect, Alex was voted “Best Live Stream Show” in The greater Santa Cruz County by The Santa Cruz Sentinal. Being a full time musician has been a hard enough path to pave but Alex refuses to let anything get in his way of playing music for the people and also writing two album lengths worth of material during quarantine that has yet to be released.

This photo was taken at Saratoga Mountain Winery in 2019. Alex has had the opportunity to play this amazing venue twice. Opening shows for Chaka Khan, Michael McDonald and the year before at the same location for Jake Shimabukuro.

In 2019 Alex Lucero & The Live Again Band had the privilege of kicking off the Capitola Twilight Concert Series growing his fan base and becoming a local favorite across many areas in California.
